Your are invited to come spend the weekend, camp on the land, feast, dance and celebrate with us. Most people will be arriving on Friday the 15th, and leaving in the afternoon on the 17th. If you have not already done so, please let us know when you plan to arrive and depart (and any dietary restrictions) so that we can plan for the catered meals.

Here is the basic flow of the weekend:
~Friday evening we will have pizza from our wood fired cob oven.
~Breakfast on Saturday morning will also be a delicious communal meal.
~Around 11 we will gather for a ceremony of sorts up canyon.
~In the early afternoon (around 1:30) there will be a Farm Tour for anyone who hasn’t been here before and wants to learn more about the farm and the animals.
~3ish everyone will be invited to our house for appetizers and drinks before heading down to the main feast.
~Our dinner feast will be followed with dancing music from our local Quail Springs Band, Cuyama Mama and the Hot Flashes.
~For everyone staying the night breakfast on Sunday will also be provided.

Sunblock
Swimsuits (for anyone getting into the kiddie pool)
Towels (if you'll be showering here)
Camping Gear (please let us know if you need anything)
Headlamps or flashlights

Comfortable clothing for 90 degree days and fifty degree nights (it cools quickly once the sun goes down, bring jackets!)

ARRIVALS/DIRECTIONS:
We will have someone down by the gates keeping them open on Friday afternoon from 3:30-5 and on Saturday 9-10:30 and 3-4 If you think you might arrive at any other times, please let us know and use the instructions below to get through our neighbors gates. We don't recommend arriving after dark if you have not been here before. Please print or copy these gate instructions onto your phone BEFORE you leave, as there is no cell service out here. Our mailbox will be marked with a ballon and is the first gate North of the green Santa Barbara/Ventura County line sign. PLEASE remember to drive 10 mph through our neighbor's fields until you reach the sign for Quail Springs. It will feel ridiculously slow, but is necessary for our relationship with our neighbor.

Be prepared for your trip to Quail Springs: bring along these driving directions and the gate instructions document! Cell reception in our area is non-existent on some roads and spotty on others so the best advice is to have them printed out, or up on your phone before you arrive.
Online mapping & GPS can’t be relied on alone as our 35070 Highway 33 mailing address does NOT correspond with our location. Check with Cal Trans 1800427ROAD or www.dot.ca.gov/hq/roadinfo/ to be sure Highways you’ll be using are open. If you’re having trouble finding us, go into one of the nearby towns & give us a call. If you reach voice mail, leave a detailed message & give us time to get back to you. Please don’t disturb the fire dept. or police unless you have a true emergency. Quail Springs is about 5 miles from the RED STAR on the map below, however, you will still need the detailed directions that follow, so read on!
From Santa Barbara South via Ojai, using Hwys 101, 150 and 33
- Take HWY 101 South to HWY 150 exit (toward Ojai) in Carpinteria.
- Follow HWY 150 toward Ojai (17 miles).
- Turn left (North) on HWY 33 before you reach downtown Ojai (Von’s shopping center
will be on your left). - Follow HWY 33 into the Cuyama Valley. You will pass the Lockwood Valley Rd. turnoff
and the Ozena fire station (37 miles). - Continue North on HWY 33 (about 10 miles more) until you see the white “Jungto
Meditation Center” sign, and the Santa Barbara County line, & mile marker that reads
57:51. - Continue driving for approximately 50-100 more yards until you see two mailboxes,
the first of which is a large white box (35070), then follow the gate instructions at the end of this document.
Directions from 101 going north from Santa Barbara or south from San Luis Obispo
- Take Highway 101 North to the HWY 166 turnoff (North of Santa Maria) (or take Hwy 101 South approximately 16 miles south of Pismo Beach), to the 166 turnoff.
- Take HWY 166 EAST exit toward Maricopa.
- Go East on HWY 166 to the town of New Cuyama (52 miles).
- Continue East on HWY 166 (10 more miles) to reach the Highway 33 turnoff.
- Turn Right (South) onto HWY 33 toward Ojai/Ventura and follow the directions below
for *Driving NORTH on Highway 33.
From Southern California – using Hwy 101 north, via Ventura
- From Los Angeles, make your way to highway 101 North towards Ventura / Santa Barbara (405 to 101 or Highway 1 to the 101).
- From Ventura, take HWY 33 inland to Ojai.
- Be sure to notice that HWY 33 takes a turn Left (North) before downtown Ojai.
- Continue on HWY 33 over Pine Mountain summit into the Cuyama Valley you will pass
Lockwood Valley Rd. turnoff & Ozena fire station (37 miles). - Now follow instructions for *Driving NORTH on Highway 33 below.
From Southern California – using I-5, Frazier Park/Lockwood Valley Rds., & HWY 33 (Most direct route from Southern California, yet Lockwood Valley Rd. can be impassable in wet weather. *Use the route below in wet weather.)
- Go North on I-5.
- Take the Frazier Park exit (just beyond the Tejon Summit on the “grapevine”) toward
Frazier Mountain Park Rd. - Turn Left and follow the road to Lake of the Woods (6 miles).
- Turn Left onto Lockwood Valley Rd. There is a small store and pizza place on the
corner. - Follow Lockwood Valley Rd. until it ends on HWY 33 (27 miles). It may be icy in the
winter so drive carefully. - Turn Right (North) onto HWY 33 toward Cuyama.
- Now follow instructions for *Driving NORTH on Highway 33 below
From Southern California or Northern California via I-5, HWYS 166 & 33
- From I-5, take HWY 166 West toward Maricopa/Santa Maria (40 miles).
- Turn Left (South) onto HWY 33 toward Ojai.
- Now follow instructions *Driving SOUTH on Highway 33 below.
Alternate Route From Northern Cal via I-5, HWYS 43, 119, 166, & 33
- From I-5, take HWY 43 South (1-2 miles only) until the 119 West (right) toward Taft.
- Take the 119 to HWY 33, (you will drive on the outskirts of Taft, not go through it).
- Merge into the 33 and take that to the tiny town of Maricopa to Hwy 166
(approximately 8 miles) – go right (West). - Go approximately 17 miles and turn Left (South) onto HWY 33 toward Ojai.
- Now follow instructions *Driving SOUTH on Highway 33 below.
*Driving NORTH on Highway 33:

- We’re the next gate on the Right. If you pass Quatal Canyon Rd. you’re 2 miles too far.
- If you go into the tiny town of Ventucopa, you’re 3 miles too far.
- Next to our gate, you will see our neighbor’s small mailbox (#175), and our large
mailbox (#35070). - Next follow the gate instructions below.
**Driving SOUTH on Highway 33:
- Continue South on HWY 33, passing through the tiny town of Ventucopa (8 miles).
- Continue South on Hwy 33 (just 3 more miles).
- Our gate is on the Left, 2 miles after Quatal Canyon Rd. and just before the Ventura
County line sign. If you pass the Ventura County line sign you’re 30 yards too far. If you
pass the white “Jungto Meditation Center” sign, you’re about a 1⁄2 mile too far. - Near our gate, you will see our neighbor’s small mailbox (#175), and our large mailbox
(#35070). - Next follow the gate instructions below.

There is no road signage on Hwy 33 for Quail Springs
Please READ CAREFULLY & PRINT OUT THESE INSTRUCTIONS as well as the DRIVING DIRECTIONS to Quail Springs document.
To reach Quail Springs, we use a 3 MILE LONG PRIVATE ROAD off of Highway 33 that crosses through our neighbors’ property, and involves going through 2 locked GATES.
We apologize for the unusual complexity of our road access. Please help us respect the rules of the private road. Thank you!
Road and Gate Rules and Etiquette - 10 mph speed limit!!
- Normal driving and traffic rules – sitting in seats, lights on at night, etc.
- Leave gates as you found them
- Replace the locks in the same order as you found them. Do not lock out any other lock - *1 lock may link directly to another lock*.
- Instructions
Locate our mailbox on Highway 33: It is the larger of the 2 mailboxes - 35070 Highway 33). Inside the mailbox, you will find a combination lock box.
Enter the combo “7239”, remove 1 key, and enter combo again to close the lock box. This will be your key during your visit, which you will return to the lock box on your way out. - Gate 1 (on the 33): key opens a large silver masterlock
- Gate 2 (1/3 mile up the road): key opens a silver masterlock with a chain attached
- After the 2nd gate, continue to drive 10 mph until you reach the Welcome to Quail Springs’ sign (approximately ½ mile farther), at which point you will be on our property. You may drive slightly faster on our road. Please drive straight up the road to the Quail Springs parking area. Do not turn off onto other dirt roads or tracks.
